GIANTS fan Andrew Kinder has taken his support to new levels by re-branding his Suzuki Bandit 1200 motorbike in the famous claret and gold colours of his beloved club. The 44-year-old from Marsden now has the ‘Rongo Koku’ Maori war tattoo that adorns the Giants shirts on his bike – as well as sponsors logos. “I was involved in a bit of an accident before the start of the season and wrote my bike off,” explained Kinder. “It shook me up pretty badly and it was only until a couple of weeks ago that I managed to get back on the bike and I rode it to the Galpharm Stadium on match day. “Obviously, by that point, I had long since decided to re-paint to bike in the Giants colours. “I was really impressed by the new home shirt and I thought it would be ideal to have it designed like that.” After completing his bike’s new look he contacted the club to ask if the Giants first team squad would sign it. As a result of contacting the club Kinder will be parading his bike around the pitch at half-time during tomorrow’s Super League showdown with neighbours Wakefield Trinity. “I’m really impressed with how it has ended up especially as it has now got the signatures on it,” added Kinder. “The players were amazed when they all saw it. “The icing on the cake was the fact that Ken Davy came out and was very impressed with it, that meant everything to me. “My dad used to take me to the old Fartown ground when I was about 10 years old and I’ve followed the club ever since.” Kinder is also excited about the end to the season as the Giants close in on a play-off charge towards the Old Trafford Grand Final. “I think we have got a great chance,” he said. “A lot of the bigger players are recovering from their injuries and it will be great to see the likes of Fa’alogo, Mason and Brett Hodgson back in action. “We’ve got a reasonable run-in before the play-offs and I’ve got every confidence that we can hit the ground running when it matters.” |
